What will happen at your initial appointment?
Most clinical conditions require you to attend an appointment to discuss any treatment needs prior to any actual surgery being performed.
If you are suitable for Same Day Surgery, we will contact you to arrange an appointment where a surgical procedure can be performed on the same day as an initial consultation. You will receive a financial estimate for all fees prior to your appointment date.
If you would like to more information about same day surgery, please click here.
What will treatment cost?
Every clinical case is different, and part of your initial consultation will be focused on providing an accurate fee estimate for you to be aware in advance of financial obligations.
Initial consultation fees are rebatable from Medicare. There will be an out of pocket expense which is payable on the day.
More complex surgical needs requiring extended consultation may have a higher consultation fee.
Can I just make an appointment or do I need a new referral?
All patients need a current referral letter to claim a Medicare rebate from our specialist surgeons.
Most referral letters are valid for twelve months, so a new letter may be required if there has been a long gap in your treatment plan.
Do I need to stop medications prior to surgery?
Most patients do not need to stop any medication prior to most surgical procedures.
If you need to stop a particular medication prior to surgery, this will be discussed with your surgeon at your first appointment.
Can I get a sickness certificate for my appointment?
Most patients will be provided with a sick certificate at their surgery appointment, or for consultation appointments an attendance certificate can be provided.
